Punahou Invitational - October 13, 2007

Punahou Invitational Official Results

OIA JV Championships Official Results

This page is a work in progress.

It started out cool, but the heat and humidity increased as the morning progressed. But, it wasn't as bad as last year! I still remember how oppressive it was and quite a few cases of dehydration.

Today, quite a few records were toppled.

Breanne Ball, continuing her domination in the intermediate ranks didn't just set a new record, she obliterated the old one. The old record was 14:08. Breanne's time of 13:22 took a full 46 seconds off. Need I say more!

In the girls varsity race, Haley Abing broke her own record of 19:51, setting a new mark of 19:31. Not only that, the next four girls, Claire Hann, Jenna Wong, Amanda Tamanaha and Dayna Domingo also broke the old record! Maile Scarpino, Amelia Linsky and Chelsea Oda were also close. Keep in mind folks, that the 3 mile course is actually about 100 meters long so these times really are faster than published.

In the boys varsity race, Bryce Jenkins also broke his own record, running 16:28 versus the 16:42 he ran last year. Chris Burniske, at 16:39, also broke the meet record.

Other winners included Kasey Chun (Intermediate Boys - 12:20), Emma Broderick (Girls Open - 13:09), and Timothy Hogan (Boys JV - 19:06).

Teamwise, the top 3 teams ended like this:

Intermediate Girls:

Punahou - 48

There will be 11 galleries for the Punahou Invitational, one for each girls race, and two for each boys race. I did have an assistant today, but he only could cover the boys' races. There will also be a gallery for the awards ceremony.

There will also be 3 galleries from the OIA JV Championships, Girls JV Champs, Boys JV Champs and JV Champs Awards.

All galleries are now operational.

And a correction: I mentioned in my newsletter that next week's meet was the MPI Invitational. That is incorrect. It is not an invitational, it is a regular ILH meet. Sorry for the error.

If you have any questions about ordering photos, collages or posters, please email me. You will find me quick to respond and do what I can to earn your business.
